Every surface appeared to be wet or slimy, if not both, and the plants seemed to rise out of the ground to grasp at their feet.

Kasai was sitting on the couch, reading one of the books that the previous owner had left behind. Memories swirled around the vampiress while she was here, in Melody's house. The scent of the inhabitants had long sense faded but the air felt as though they remained. Kasai finished reading the chapter and slipped a bookmark between the pages. Her eyes flashed over to the calendar posted on the wall. When they had gotten there, it had been on the incorrect month but, after watching the local news stations, they began keeping track of the date. Today was a special day.
